As Assistant Dean for Student Success, and head of the Office of Student Diversity, Danielle is responsible for working with academic departments, community partners, and the general campus community to develop and implement policies and programs to assist students in their journey towards graduation from the college. She received her Ph.D. in Agricultural Leadership and Community Development in 2006 and a master's in 2000 from Texas A&M. She earned her bachelor's from The University of Iowa in 1997. Before coming to the college, she taught a learning theory course at TAMU in the Center for Student Learning (formerly Center for Academic Enhancement) and worked for a technology and organizational development consulting company in Houston. Originally from Baton Rouge, she now makes her home in the greater Houston area.

Terry Easterly graduated from Texas A&M University in May, 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in Sociology.  She and her husband operated a family business in Bryan before her employment with the Department of Student Activities in the Division of Student Affairs in 2002.  Terry transferred to the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences in May, 2006 to become the Administrative Assistant in the Office of Student Diversity.  She is married to Jimmy Easterly, 71 and they have two children, Jason ‘02 (m: Melissa Roberts ‘02) of Houston, TX and Darby ‘03 (m: Matt Humplik) of Denver, CO.

 
Lilly Sanchez-Saqib

Lilly’s primary duties in her position as a Program Coordinator for the Office of Student Diversity are to develop, implement, and assist with activities that support the academic, student development and diversity programs of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. She provides academic advice to current students as well as promotes COALS majors to prospective students and families. Besides helping students, Lilly spends a great deal of time coordinating programs for the college, specially recruiting activities and  also oversees the Learning Community for the COALS Regents Scholars.
She serves as the Co-Advisor to the AgForLife Student Association.

Lilly is a graduate of Iowa State University. She holds a Masters degree in Professional Studies in Education in the area of Higher Education. Lilly is originally from Puerto Rico and is married to Saqib Mukhtar. Saqib is a faculty member in the Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department at Texas A&M University. They have three children that keep them busy with sports events and loads of laundry. They enjoy living in Texas and they take pride in being an international family which is a blend of Puerto Rican, Guatemalan, Pakistani and American culture.

 
Gene Curtiss

Senior Systems Analyst I  ›

Gene will be assisting OSD as well as the Academic Dean’s Office in Kleberg with computer and IT information (e.g. web design, server administration, desktop applications, computer maintenance, etc). Gene comes from central lower Michigan where he resided and worked for the past 10 years. Most recently, Gene was the Technology Specialist for MiCTA, a nationwide nonprofit organization facilitating technology purchases for other nonprofit entities. He held that position for 5 years, along with being the video board coordinator for Central Michigan University athletics for the past 2 years. Gene graduated high school from Beal City High School (also the Aggies!) before moving on to study Information Systems at both Ferris State University and Michigan State University. He comes to College Station along with his girlfriend, Jen, who is the new Unit Manager for Dining Services at the Memorial Student Center. While at MiCTA, he was also initially responsible for all of their IT needs for their office just as he will be for the Office of Student Diversity.

David DeSousa

Recruiting Coordinator ›

David DeSousa serves as the Recruitment Coordinator for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. David graduated from Texas A&M University in August of 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Development. He is currently working on his Master of Business Administration degree and is expecting to graduate in May of 2008 from Texas Woman’s University.

Mr. DeSousa’s devotion for college recruiting began when he attended Texas A&M University and was involved in recruitment activities for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. He attended recruiting events in South Texas and the Hispanic Forum in Houston.

After graduation, he decided to pursue a career in Admissions and Enrollment Management. David served as Admissions Counselor in Dallas recruiting high school and transfer students to Texas A&M University. After working for the Dallas Prospective Student Center; David took a position as Recruitment Specialist for the Universities Center at Dallas. There he was responsible for functions of the Center’s daily operations. He also served as the Marketing Chief of the center and attended recruiting events throughout the Metroplex.

Apart from his experience in recruitment, he has multilingual skills which include English, Spanish, and Portuguese. He has enjoyed every step of his career in higher education and feels that working in education is an honor, as he is privileged to meet students and encourage them in decisions that will open doors and opportunities for the future.
